On March 1, the inter-departmental joint meeting on accelerating the development of the rehabilitative and assistive device industry in Shanghai was held. The meeting summarized and reviewed the development of the industry in 2023 and clarified the priorities of work in 2024. Before the meeting, the participants visited the Rehabilitative and Assistive Device Innovation and Experience Center located in the Shanghai Prosthetic & Orthopaedic co.,LTD.

According to the requirements of the meeting, the strength of the joint meeting member units should be coordinated to focus on four aspects including users, enterprises, talents and environment. Firstly, the user needs should be prioritized and accurately captured based on application scenarios. Secondly, enterprise vitality should be stimulated. Rehabilitation aids manufacturers and related enterprises should be encouraged and supported to strengthen product research and development and the transformation of research results. Thirdly, great importance should be attached to talent cultivation, including cultivation of management, service, research and development talents related to the rehabilitation aids industry. Fourthly, the business environment should be optimized to further close the information gap between the supply side and the demand side and broaden the promotion channels of the rehabilitation aids industry. Each member unit should further leverage the normalized working mechanism of the joint meeting, strengthen the collaboration, and form a joint force to promote the high-quality development of the city's rehabilitation aids industry and bring benefit to many more elderly people, disabled people and sick/injured people.
