  • Shanghai No.5 Social Welfare Home completed and opened 2024-04-01
  • On January 18, Shanghai No.5 Social Welfare Home was completed and opened. The opening ceremony was held at Dongping Town, Chongming District on the morning of the same day. Leaders of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau presented.

    As a major project of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau’s 13th Five-Year Plan, Shanghai No.5 Social Welfare Home, which took three years to build, has a total floor area of 45,140 square meters, 200 beds for orphans and disabled children, and 800 beds for disabled adults. It is a municipal welfare institution with perfect facilities and functions for orphans and disabled people. Its completion and functioning will further guarantee the centralized care for the city's orphans, disabled children and adults, better display the civil affairs’ responsibility for securing basic life, and ensure comprehensive care for the orphans and the disabled. This institution will effectively help Shanghai further expand the functions of welfare institutions, protect the interests of orphans and disabled people, and improve the welfare system.
