In recent years, Yanjing Elderly Care Home in Yexie Community, Songjiang District, has been actively exploring the new rural elderly care model known as "Happy Elder House", which is designed to enable rural older adults to realize "aging in place" through intensive utilization of idle resources and full integration of various forces.

In 2022, the Happy Elder House began to actively develop the "Happy Homestead" elderly care complex by adding the rural version of the integrated elderly service center. At this center, older adults can carry on Songjiang's local farming culture and enrich their lives by participating in a number of activities, such as cooking food in traditional clay ovens. The public is invited to attend activities promoting the "culture of filial piety". On the other hand, the "Happy Elder House" opened field schools and field tearooms to encourage rural older adults to live more actively and happily. All those activities are held to activate rural resources, carry forward rural culture, and promote rural revitalization.
