Since its launch in 2003, the Shanghai-Xinjiang “Silver Age Action” volunteer service program has been held 19 times with a total of 426 elderly volunteers’ participation. While bringing various skills, “Silver Age Action” volunteers also demonstrated the friendship and care of Shanghai people. Their great expertise and personality won the heart of local people, thus achieving positive social benefits.

In accordance with general requirements of Shanghai’s aid for Xinjiang and work arrangement of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and subject to the decision after consultation with relevant departments of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Shanghai will officially start the 2024 Shanghai-Xinjiang “Silver Age Action” volunteer service program and now recruits elderly volunteers from all walks of life.
