  • Q: What certificates and materials should the adopter, as mentioned above, provide?

    A:   Shanghai   residents shall provide the following certificates and materials when handling the adoption registration at the civil affairs bureau of the district or county where the adoptee is abandoned or found:

    1) both the couple’s residence booklets and identity cards, and also the marriage certificate (or divorce certificate);

    2) the adoption application and the certificates issued by the couple’s work units;

    3) both the couple’s health check certificates issued by the above-first-class hospital of the district or county;

    4) the certificate proving that the adoptee is an abandoned infant or child issued by the police station or bureau of the locality where the adoptee is abandoned or found;

    5) the relatives tracing notice for the abandoned baby or child published in the “Shanghai Family News”;

    6) the childless certificate or the certificate for approval of a second child issued by the family planning department of the district or county;

    7) the guarantee agreement signed by the adopter with fertility and the family planning commission when necessary;

    8) the notarial deed for windfall of the abandoned baby or child issued by the notary office.
